down by the lakeside

So Freshers week only just ended and I don't really have any blog-suitable photos (if you know what I mean) so here are some shots I took with Sophie by the lakeside the other day when still in Vienna. It was a gorgeous afternoon, eating spare ribs and THE BEST CHIPS IN THE WORLD and dreaming about what university life would be like.

Speaking of university life, I've joined a couple societies, including the Drama Society and Salsa, which is loads of fun. There's actually a masquerade ball tomorrow. Anyway, hope you're all good! I haven't been able to update as much as I would like but I'm still getting settled, so once everything is more at a level you'll be seeing the usual shtuff popping up all the time agan. Big hugs.

first update from uni

{some shots around my room in vienna right before i left}

Indeed I am still alive! Settling into uni life has taken a little longer than expected, unpacking the life I stored into my suitcase, juggling the freshers chaos and meeting new people each day, joining way too many societies and clubs.. it's a rush and it's a colorful rush. But so far so good! People in my course are incredibly lovely and my professors seem amazing. This year is going to go by pretty quickly.

dreaming at belvedere

american apparel button-down shirt | american apparel neon nail polish| h&m pants and wings necklace | white converse all-stars | persol sunglasses | mango shopper

Thursday; touristing at the Belvedere, an awe-inspiringly beautiful garden right in the middle of Vienna. The atmosphere was so beautiful there, Genia and I daydreamed for a good hour about living in such a wonderland. I'm wearing one of my favorite pieces from AA, the button-down blouse with a nude tank underneath... which I think I'll cherish more if/when the store closes. But hopefully not! Another Fashion Week post coming up, although once again the pictures are nothing to speak of. And then we'll see what this last weekend in vienna will bring!

sequins and leopard and latex

MQ Vienna Fashion Week 2011. Last minute packing has made me not too eager for fashion shows and events, but Andreaa Tincu and some others were kind enough to invite me to some of their shows. So last night I ventured into the tent with my friend DC, after some catching up and much needed bean-bag chill session. Let's start this post off with some outfit photos (at a much-too-high ISO, naturally -.-) and some violent hair wippin'.

1. Andreea Tincu. a collection bound tightly together by extortionate headdress and treebark-looking wedges. Serene and peaceful overall. (Btw sorry about the crappy quality. i didn't feel like lugging my supersized canon with me, but looking through these pictures I do feel a little queezy)

2// Manufaktur Herzblut. Something more flamboyant, with amazingly epic music that i will be dancing to while brushing my teeth. In all a combination of pirates + austrianess (aka dirndls) + bits of betsey johnson + elegant dress + clown butlers. Okay I'm confused now, but at the time with the music everything made sense.

Only two more days until I leave for England! I'm 30% packed and 70% panicked. Also, I'm curious to hear: which of you are also off to university for the first time? It'll be interesting to share our experiences as we go along, since (for the first couple of weeks at least) my blog will mostly be a documentary of life on campus. So jump in and tell me (also if you're in uni already) what you're studying and where you're going!

return of the trench

AA sheer top | HM skirt | Zara shoes | Diesel bag | ES trench

Yes, it's THE trench that practically spams my blog every spring/autumn. And it's always the same one no less. Some possible alternatives I've been looking at/dreaming about include this and this and this. It was actually quite dark when we took these so sorry about the noise in the pictures. This is one of my accidental overly-mature outfits. It was a super busy day, shopping for uni essentials, greedily choosing from the wide array of possible birthday-snacks at oberlaa, celebrating my mom's birthday. (And in case my arms look weirdly flat in pictures 3+4, it's cause i had my jacket on like a cape. so yeah. no weirdly flat arms, sorry). Photos taken by my dear sister who's away on camp! Lucky scamp!

streetstyle: along mariahilferstrasse

I haven't taken streetstyle shots in ages, and when I spotted these two guys while shopping the other day I just had to snap them. I love how they contrast: look 1 is clean-chic and casual, and then look 2 is all about boyish and chilled graphics.

inexplicably serious

Zara jumper, skirt and bag | Bally shoes | Rayban wayfarers

Yesterday, I went with the familyship to a designer outlet a little outside Vienna. I got a maroon dress at Stefanel, which I'll show you soon, and this ingenious spray bottle of Deep Sleep from The Body Shop, which actually works (or maybe I was just really tired last night, no idea). I didn't make it back to Vienna in time for the FashionCamp, but I got late-lunch with my friend Sophie and we lolled around by the lakeside (photos from that coming soon). Anyway, this jumper's my favorite at the moment, and I can see it as my absolute go-to piece in university (ONE MORE WEEK).
